adalimumab + methotrexate

Adalimumab + methotrexate is a combination therapy used primarily for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases. Adalimumab is a fully human monoclonal antibody that targets and neutralizes tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-alpha), a cytokine involved in systemic inflammation. Methotrexate is a small molecule antimetabolite and antifolate agent that inhibits enzymes responsible for nucleotide synthesis, including dihydrofolate reductase, leading to anti-inflammatory effects by preventing cell division in rapidly proliferating immune cells. The combination has been shown to be more effective than either agent alone in reducing disease activity, improving remission rates, and slowing radiographic progression of joint damage[1][2][3][4][5].
