Drug intelligence / Profile preview
adalimumab-WIBP (marketed under the brand name Shengainin) is a recombinant fully human anti-TNF-α monoclonal antibody developed by the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products, a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG) under Sinopharm. It is a biosimilar of adalimumab (Humira) and acts by binding specifically to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), neutralizing its biological activity and blocking its interaction with the cell surface TNF receptors TNFR1 and TNFR2. In August 2025, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China approved Shengainin for the treatment of eight indications, including rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, plaque psoriasis, Crohn's disease, uveitis, polyarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis, pediatric plaque psoriasis, and pediatric Crohn's disease.
