ADAM-10-targeted CAR-T cell therapy is a preclinical cell-based immunotherapy being developed by Carina Biotech for the treatment of solid tumors, including breast and colorectal cancers. The therapy consists of T cells genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically recognizes and binds to A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 10 (ADAM-10), a protein frequently overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. Upon binding to the target antigen, the CAR-T cells are activated to exert direct T-cell-mediated cytotoxic effects, leading to tumor cell death. Preclinical data presented at the AACR 2022 Annual Meeting demonstrated that these ADAM-10-targeting CAR-T cells can effectively inhibit colon cancer cell growth in vivo.
