Overview

ADAM17 shRNA is a short hairpin RNA designed to silence the expression of the **ADAM17** (A Disintegrin and Metalloproteinase 17) gene, also known as **TACE** (TNF-alpha converting enzyme). In the context of high-grade gliomas, ADAM17 is involved in the ectodomain shedding of Kit ligand (Kitl/SCF), which promotes tumor cell migration and invasion. By knocking down ADAM17 using RNA interference (RNAi), researchers observed significantly reduced glioma cell migration and inhibited Kitl shedding in stable transfectants of glioma cell lines such as LN-229, LN-308, and U87-MG. This tool is primarily utilized in preclinical research to investigate the functional role of ADAM17 in cancer progression, signaling pathways, and invasive behavior.
