Adapalene + hyaluronic acid is an investigational topical combination therapy being evaluated for the treatment of mild to moderate acne vulgaris. Adapalene is a third-generation topical retinoid that acts as a selective agonist for retinoic acid receptors (RAR-β and RAR-γ), regulating gene transcription to normalize follicular epithelial differentiation and providing anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting lipoxygenase activity. Hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan, is included in the regimen for its potent hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties. This combination aims to mitigate the common side effects of topical retinoids, such as erythema, dryness, and scaling, thereby improving patient adherence and overall therapeutic outcomes. Badr University is conducting clinical research to compare this combination against adapalene monotherapy.
