Overview

ADC 5311 is a preclinical-stage antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) being developed by Adienne S.r.l. S.U. for the treatment of malignant mesothelioma. The drug consists of begelomab, an anti-CD26 monoclonal antibody, conjugated to a cytotoxic payload. Its mechanism of action involves the targeted delivery of the cytotoxic agent to tumor cells expressing CD26 (also known as dipeptidyl peptidase 4), a cell surface protein that is highly expressed in malignant mesothelioma. Upon binding to CD26, the ADC is internalized, releasing the toxin to induce cell death specifically in tumor cells while sparing healthy tissue. This targeted approach is designed to enhance therapeutic efficacy and reduce systemic toxicity for patients with mesothelioma.
