Overview

AdCh63 AMA1 is a candidate malaria vaccine developed by the University of Oxford. It consists of a chimpanzee adenovirus vector (AdCh63) that has been modified to be non-replicating in humans and engineered to express the Plasmodium falciparum apical membrane antigen 1 (AMA1), which is expressed by the malaria parasite during blood-stage infection. The vaccine is designed to stimulate an immune response against this malaria protein to provide protection against malaria infection. It is often used in a heterologous prime-boost strategy with MVA AMA1.
