Overview

AdCh63 MSP1 (also known as ChAd63 MSP1) is an experimental viral-vectored malaria vaccine developed by the University of Oxford. It utilizes a non-replicating recombinant chimpanzee adenovirus 63 (ChAd63) vector to deliver the genetic sequence for the *Plasmodium falciparum* merozoite surface protein 1 (MSP1) antigen. The MSP1 insert is engineered to include conserved blocks and divergent allelic sequences (from 3D7 and Wellcome strains) to overcome antigenic polymorphism. Designed to target the blood-stage of the malaria parasite life cycle, the vaccine aims to induce potent T-cell and antibody responses to prevent erythrocyte invasion. In clinical development, it has been primarily evaluated in heterologous prime-boost regimens alongside MVA MSP1 (Modified Vaccinia Ankara encoding MSP1).
