Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Adco-Bisocor is a cardiovascular medication containing bisoprolol hemifumarate, a selective β1-adrenoceptor antagonist (beta-blocker). Developed and marketed by Adcock Ingram, it is primarily used for the management of mild to moderate hypertension and angina pectoris. By targeting beta-1 adrenergic receptors in the heart, bisoprolol reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility, leading to a decrease in blood pressure and cardiac workload. The drug is formulated as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets for once-daily oral administration, featuring a plasma elimination half-life of approximately 10 to 12 hours and a duration of action of about 24 hours.
