AddPhos

AddPhos is an electrolyte replacement therapy developed and marketed by Steadfast Medishield. It contains sodium acid phosphate as the active ingredient, formulated as granules in 3.2g sachets. AddPhos is primarily used in renal care to manage conditions such as hypophosphatemia, hypercalcemia, and hyperparathyroidism, as well as to prevent the formation of calcium-based kidney stones. The drug works by increasing phosphate levels in the body and binding to calcium ions in the gastrointestinal tract to reduce calcium absorption. Each sachet provides 500 mg of phosphorus (equivalent to 16.1 mmol of phosphate) and 20.4 mmol of sodium. It is specifically indicated for patients requiring phosphate supplementation, though caution is advised in patients with impaired renal function due to its electrolyte content.
