Overview

Adenosine-5′-monophosphate (AMP) is a nucleotide found in RNA, composed of the nucleobase adenine, the sugar ribose, and a single phosphate group. It is an ester of phosphoric acid with the nucleoside adenosine. AMP plays a key role in cellular energy transfer and metabolism as an intermediate in numerous biochemical pathways. As a supplement, it is used for nutritional support to address dietary shortages or imbalances and has been studied for its immune-modulating effects. Mechanistically, dietary nucleotides like AMP can enhance immune function by supporting T-cell maturation and activity, boosting natural killer cell function, improving delayed-type hypersensitivity responses, and modulating T-helper cell responses toward Th1 phenotypes. The precise mechanism underlying these immunomodulatory effects remains unclear[1][2].
