Overview

Phosphaden (adenosine phosphate) is an endogenous nucleotide that acts as a vasodilator, antiaggregant, and metabolic regulator. It is a key component of essential coenzymes involved in cellular oxidation-reduction processes and protein synthesis. Phosphaden is used to normalize porphyrin biosynthesis and improve microcirculation. Historically developed and manufactured in Belarus and Russia, it has been indicated for the treatment of acute intermittent porphyria, lead poisoning with polyneuritic syndrome, peripheral vascular diseases (such as obliterating endarteritis and thrombophlebitis), coronary heart disease, and diabetic retinopathy. It functions primarily as an agonist of adenosine receptors and an allosteric activator of AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK).
