Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Adenoviral c-Maf vector is an experimental gene therapy vector designed for the constitutive expression of the transcription factor c-Maf (musculoaponeurotic fibrosarcoma oncogene homolog). Developed by researchers at Weill Cornell Medicine, the vector is utilized to engineer naive endothelial cells into functional liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) under three-dimensional culture conditions. By inducing a sinusoidal transcriptional program, the c-Maf-expressing LSECs adopt a distinct morphology with open intercellular spaces that recapitulate hepatic sinusoidal architecture. This platform is being investigated for modeling liver diseases, studying endothelial-hepatocyte crosstalk, and as a potential cell therapy strategy involving the transplantation of vascularized hepatocyte organoids to promote rapid revascularization in acute liver failure.
