Overview

Adenovirus gp100 is a recombinant viral vector-based cancer vaccine consisting of a replication-deficient adenovirus encoding the human melanoma-associated antigen gp100. The vaccine is designed to induce immune responses—primarily T-cell-mediated—against gp100-expressing melanoma cells for the treatment of metastatic melanoma. In clinical trials, this vaccine has been administered alone or in combination with interleukin-2 to evaluate both its safety and its ability to stimulate antitumor immunity. The principal mechanism involves the presentation of gp100 epitopes on MHC class I molecules to activate cytotoxic T lymphocytes. This approach leverages viral transduction to enhance antigen delivery and presentation to the immune system[1][2][3][4][8].
