Overview
Adenovirus serotype 26-expressing HPV18 vaccine (Ad26.HPV18, JNJ-63682931) is a genetically engineered, replication-deficient adenoviral vector (Ad26) encoding the oncogenic human papillomavirus type 18 (HPV18) antigens. It is designed as a prime cancer therapeutic or preventive vaccine to induce an immune response against cells expressing HPV18 oncoproteins. The Ad26 platform is known for its ability to elicit strong cellular and humoral immunity and has been used in other viral vector vaccines. This candidate was developed primarily for the prevention or treatment of chronic infections with high-risk HPV types that can lead to cervical and other cancers. The developer and manufacturer is Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), which has also collaborated with Bavarian Nordic for combination regimens using MVA-BN technology[1][2][4][8].
