This is an investigational adoptive cell therapy consisting of donor-derived, adenovirus-specific cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTLs) developed by the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at Baylor College of Medicine. The therapy is composed of polyclonal CD4+ and CD8+ T cells expanded in vitro to specifically target adenovirus antigens, primarily the hexon and penton proteins. It is designed to provide or restore virus-specific immunity in immunocompromised patients, particularly allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplant recipients, to prevent or treat adenovirus infections. By using the donor's own immune cells, this approach aims to offer a targeted, non-toxic alternative to conventional antiviral medications.
