Adenovirus vector COVID-19 vaccines represent a class of viral vector-based biologics designed to prevent COVID-19. These vaccines utilize a modified, non-replicating adenovirus (such as ChAdOx1, Ad26, or Ad5) as a delivery vehicle to transport the genetic code for the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) protein into human cells. Once the genetic material is delivered, the host's cellular machinery produces the spike protein, which is then recognized by the immune system as a foreign antigen.
