Overview

Aderamastat (FP-025) is a novel, orally administered small molecule developed by Foresee Pharmaceuticals. It acts as a highly selective inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase 12 (MMP-12), an enzyme implicated in inflammatory and fibrotic processes within the lung. By inhibiting MMP-12, FP-025 aims to reduce inflammation and tissue remodeling associated with respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), sarcoidosis, and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) related to SARS-CoV-2 infection. The drug has demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects in preclinical models and has shown a favorable safety profile in early-phase clinical trials[1][4][5][6][9].
