Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Serogard (adezmapimod + vimdemer) is an innovative fixed-dose combination drug developed by the Irkutsk Scientific Center of Surgery and Traumatology and Pharmasyntez for the prevention and treatment of post-surgical adhesion formation. It consists of adezmapimod, a selective p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibitor, and vimdemer, a polyvinylimidazole polyelectrolyte. The combination acts synergistically to suppress connective tissue growth and inflammatory responses in the zone of surgical intervention, thereby preventing the formation of peritoneal and other post-operative adhesions. Serogard is administered as an intraperitoneal solution during open or laparoscopic surgeries, primarily in abdominal surgery and gynecology, and is currently in Phase III clinical development.
