Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AdFBLN7 is a recombinant adenoviral vector designed to overexpress fibulin-7 (FBLN7), a matricellular glycoprotein belonging to the short fibulin family. Fibulin-7 plays a critical role in tissue remodeling, cell-matrix interactions, and cell phenotype modulation. In preclinical models of chronic liver disease and portal hypertension, AdFBLN7-mediated overexpression of FBLN7 in liver sinusoidal endothelial cells (LSECs) modulates paracrine signaling with hepatic stellate cells (HSCs), leading to a reduction in HSC activation markers (such as ACTA2 and PDGFRB), decreased liver fibrosis, and improved hepatic hemodynamics [1]. In cardiovascular research, AdFBLN7 has been utilized to study the role of FBLN7 in cardiac remodeling, where it interacts with receptors such as TGFBR3, SDC4, and EGFR to regulate fibroblast and vascular smooth muscle cell phenotypes.
