ADI-PEG 20 + transarterial chemoembolization

ADI-PEG 20 (pegargiminase) is a pegylated recombinant arginine deiminase developed by Polaris Group for the treatment of arginine-dependent cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Many HCC tumors lack argininosuccinate synthetase 1 (ASS1), making them unable to synthesize arginine internally and dependent on external sources. ADI-PEG 20 works by depleting circulating arginine, thereby metabolically starving the tumor cells. This specific entry refers to the combination of ADI-PEG 20 with transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), a standard-of-care procedure for intermediate-stage HCC that involves the local delivery of chemotherapy and embolic agents to the tumor's blood supply.
