Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AdIL-1β is a replication-deficient adenoviral vector (typically adenovirus serotype 5) engineered to express human or rodent interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). Developed as a preclinical research tool, AdIL-1β is widely used to transiently or chronically overexpress the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1β in vivo. This vector is utilized to establish animal models of chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, including chronic active cortical lesions (modeling multiple sclerosis), rheumatoid arthritis, peritoneal fibrosis, and airway remodeling. Additionally, AdIL-1β has been investigated in preclinical studies as a genetic adjuvant to enhance mucosal and systemic immune responses in viral vaccine candidates.
