Overview

AdIL-12 is an investigational gene therapy product consisting of an adenoviral vector encoding the cytokine interleukin-12 (IL-12), designed to increase local expression of IL-12 at targeted tissues. IL-12 is a critical initiator of cell-mediated immunity, primarily through stimulation of Th1 T-lymphocyte responses, enhancement of CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocyte numbers, and induction of IFN-γ production. Preclinical studies demonstrate that intratracheal (IT) administration of AdIL-12 leads to dose-dependent expression of IL-12, resulting in augmented immune cell recruitment and enhanced clearance of pathogens in immunocompromised animal models. The therapy is being explored as a treatment for infectious diseases and cancers due to its immune-stimulatory properties and potential to restore host defense mechanisms, especially in immunosuppressed conditions[1].
