Overview
Adimune is an inactivated, surface antigen influenza vaccine developed and manufactured by Adimmune Corporation. It is produced using a traditional egg-based platform where influenza virus strains, selected according to annual World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations, are cultivated in embryonated chicken eggs. The manufacturing process involves harvesting the virus, followed by inactivation and chemical disruption to isolate the surface antigens, primarily hemagglutinin (HA) and neuraminidase (NA). The vaccine is designed to elicit a protective immune response by inducing the production of neutralizing antibodies against the targeted influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and influenza B strains. Adimune is available in both trivalent and quadrivalent formulations and is administered via intramuscular injection to prevent seasonal influenza in children and adults.
