Adipoplus

Adipoplus (also known as Kupistem) is an autologous adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell (ASC) therapy developed by Anterogen Co., Ltd. for the treatment of complex perianal fistulas in patients with Crohn's disease. The therapy involves harvesting adipose tissue from the patient, followed by the isolation and ex vivo expansion of mesenchymal stem cells. When injected intralesionally into the fistula tract, these cells exert therapeutic effects through immunomodulation and the secretion of various growth factors and cytokines (such as TGF-beta and IL-10). These paracrine signals suppress local inflammation and promote tissue repair and wound healing, facilitating the closure of the fistula. Adipoplus was evaluated in clinical trials such as the Phase II ANTG-ASC-202 study, which demonstrated its long-term efficacy and safety in achieving sustained fistula closure.
