Overview

AdipoR2 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the adiponectin receptor 2 (AdipoR2). In research conducted at McGill University, siRNA-mediated knockdown of AdipoR2 in THP-1 monocyte-derived macrophages was shown to predominantly polarize cells toward a pro-inflammatory M1 phenotype, as evidenced by increased expression of markers such as MHC-II and CD86. This polarization is mechanistically relevant to the development of unstable atherosclerotic plaques, where decreased AdipoR2 signaling has been observed. The molecule serves as a critical tool for investigating the role of adiponectin receptors in innate immune responses and cardiovascular pathology.
