Overview

Adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) are multipotent stromal cells isolated from fat tissue. They are considered advantageous for regenerative medicine due to their easy accessibility and ability to differentiate into various cell types such as bone, muscle, neural cells, and chondrocytes. ADMSCs secrete growth factors and hyaluronic acid that help modulate inflammation and promote tissue repair. Their mechanism of action includes paracrine signaling—secreting bioactive molecules that influence surrounding tissues—and direct differentiation into target tissues. These properties make them promising candidates for treating conditions like craniofacial bone defects, scarred vocal folds, Crohn’s fistula (as in Cupistem), subcutaneous tissue defects (as in Queencell), wound healing, musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis or pain syndromes[1][7][9]. The exact mechanism remains under investigation but involves modulation of inflammation and promotion of tissue regeneration.
