This experimental therapeutic product, developed by Assiut University, is a combination of cell therapy and tissue engineering designed for the treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers. It involves the application of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) integrated into a multi-component scaffold. The scaffold is composed of curcumin-loaded chitosan nanoparticles embedded within a collagen-alginate matrix. The AD-MSCs are intended to promote wound healing through paracrine signaling, including the release of growth factors that stimulate angiogenesis and tissue remodeling. Curcumin provides anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial benefits, while the chitosan nanoparticles ensure its controlled release. The collagen-alginate framework provides the necessary structural support and a moist environment conducive to cell survival and migration.
