Overview

This investigational autologous biologic therapy is being developed by Beni-Suef University for the treatment of advanced periodontitis (Stage III or IV). The therapy consists of exosomes, which are cell-free extracellular vesicles derived from the patient's own adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs). These exosomes are harvested autogenously and injected locally into periodontal pockets as an adjunctive treatment to scaling and root planing. The mechanism of action involves the delivery of bioactive molecules that promote periodontal tissue regeneration by exerting anti-inflammatory effects, enhancing cellular proliferation, and stimulating osteoblast differentiation. It is currently being evaluated in an Early Phase 1 clinical trial to measure improvements in gingival inflammation, pocket depth, and alveolar bone levels.
