Overview

This investigational biologic therapy consists of extracellular vesicles (EVs) isolated from human adipose tissue. Developed by Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital, affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, these nanoscale membrane-bound particles contain a variety of bioactive molecules, including proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. The therapy is primarily being evaluated for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers and recalcitrant skin ulcers, often administered in combination with a hyaluronic acid (HA) scaffold. The mechanism of action involves promoting angiogenesis through the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway and CCN2 signaling, as well as enhancing the proliferation and migration of skin cells and modulating local inflammatory responses to facilitate wound healing.
