Overview

Adipose tissue derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs or ADSCs) are multipotent stromal cells isolated from fat (adipose) tissue. They can differentiate into various lineages including osteoblasts (bone), chondrocytes (cartilage), myocytes (muscle), and adipocytes (fat). AD-MSCs are characterized by their fibroblast-like morphology and specific surface marker expression. They secrete a broad range of growth factors and cytokines that promote tissue repair, modulate immune responses, suppress inflammation, and support angiogenesis. Their immunomodulatory properties make them attractive for treating autoimmune diseases, graft versus host disease, orthopedic conditions like osteoarthritis, and other inflammatory or degenerative disorders. AD-MSCs are minimally immunogenic and can be obtained in higher yields from fat compared to bone marrow[1][3][5].
