Overview
Adjupanrix (formerly known as GSK1562902A) is an inactivated, adjuvanted pandemic influenza vaccine developed by GSK for immunization against avian-origin H5N1 influenza virus. It is designed to induce immunity against the hemagglutinin antigen of the A/VietNam/1194/2004 (clade 1) strain and is authorized by the European Medicines Agency for use as a prepandemic or pandemic stockpiled vaccine. The mechanism of action involves stimulating an immune response to the viral hemagglutinin protein, thereby providing protection against infection with H5N1 or related strains. The formulation includes an oil-in-water adjuvant system to enhance immunogenicity[6][1][2].
