Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Adjuplex is a novel vaccine adjuvant platform composed of purified lecithin and a carbomer homopolymer. It is designed to enhance the immune response to co-administered antigens in vaccines, particularly subunit vaccines. Mechanistically, Adjuplex elicits strong and balanced Th1/Th2-type adaptive immune responses, promotes robust antigen-specific IgG production, and induces CD8+ T-cell proliferation. Unlike classical adjuvants that activate pathogen recognition receptors (PRRs) or trigger classical dendritic cell maturation, Adjuplex appears to act through alternative pathways involving innate cytokine and chemokine secretion as well as recruitment of dendritic cells, monocytes, and neutrophils. It has demonstrated potent immunogenicity with good tolerability in animal models for various experimental vaccines including influenza and HIV[2][3][5].
