Overview

The adjuvanted quadrivalent subunit influenza vaccine is an investigational biologic vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of seasonal influenza, particularly in older adults (aged 65 and older). Developed through a collaboration between the Henan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Ab&B Bio-tech, and Yither Biotech, the vaccine utilizes a protein subunit platform containing purified hemagglutinin antigens from four influenza strains: two influenza A (H1N1 and H3N2) and two influenza B (Victoria and Yamagata lineages). It is formulated with an oil-in-water emulsion adjuvant, likely MF59, to enhance the immune response in the elderly population, who often exhibit immunosenescence. The vaccine is currently being evaluated in a Phase I clinical trial in China to assess its safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity compared to adjuvant-only and placebo controls.
