Overview

Admilparant (BMS-986278) is an orally bioavailable small molecule antagonist of the lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPA1), currently under development by Bristol Myers Squibb. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of fibrotic lung diseases, including idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF). By selectively blocking the LPA1 receptor, admilparant inhibits the signaling pathways that lead to fibroblast activation and tissue scarring, thereby slowing the decline of lung function. The drug received FDA Breakthrough Therapy designation for PPF in October 2023 and is currently being evaluated in Phase III registrational trials, including the ALOFT-IPF study, with top-line data expected in 2026.
