ADMVA is a multigenic HIV-1 candidate vaccine that utilizes a modified vaccinia Ankara (MVA) viral vector. It is designed to express five HIV-1 genes (gag, pol, DeltaV2env, tat, and nef) derived from a recombinant C/B' subtype of HIV-1. The vaccine aims to elicit both humoral (antibody) and cellular immune responses against these HIV-1 proteins, including gp120, to prevent HIV infection. It has been evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity.
