Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AdoGel Sema is a novel, ready-to-use injectable hydrogel formulation designed for the long-acting delivery of semaglutide, a glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Developed using Adocia’s proprietary AdoGel platform, this formulation enables sustained and controlled release of semaglutide with nearly zero-order kinetics and minimal initial burst. The technology aims to reduce injection frequency from weekly (as with current semaglutide products) to monthly or even quarterly dosing, potentially improving patient compliance and reducing side effects associated with peak drug concentrations. Preclinical proof-of-concept has been established, demonstrating regular release of semaglutide over one month. The primary indications are diabetes and obesity[3][8][10].
