AdPGIFNβ is an experimental gene therapy vector developed by researchers at the University of Sao Paulo. It consists of an adenoviral vector (Ad) containing a p53-responsive promoter (PG) that drives the expression of interferon-beta (IFNβ). This design is intended to link the activation of the p53 pathway with the production of IFNβ, creating a targeted expression system in cells where p53 is active or has been restored. In preclinical models of malignant melanoma, AdPGIFNβ has been studied for its ability to induce senescence and apoptosis in tumor cells, often in combination with other vectors such as AdPGp19 (expressing p19ARF) to enhance anti-tumor efficacy through the complementation of the p53/ARF and interferon pathways.
