Overview

Adrenochrome is an oxidation product of adrenaline (epinephrine) that is being investigated for its hemostatic properties. It is thought to act by increasing capillary resistance and reducing the permeability of fragile microvessels. In a clinical trial context (ChiCTR2600121391), oral adrenochrome tablets are being evaluated as a treatment for symptomatic chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) by Wuxi No. 2 People’s Hospital. The study aims to determine if adrenochrome can reduce the progression of the hematoma, decrease the need for surgical intervention (craniotomy), and prevent post-surgical recurrence by stabilizing the leaky neo-vessels that characterize the condition.
