Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a four-drug combination regimen consisting of adriamycin (doxorubicin), cyclophosphamide, paclitaxel, and propranolol. Adriamycin (doxorubicin) is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in cancer cells. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that cross-links DNA strands, preventing cell division. Paclitaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules and prevents their depolymerization, thereby inhibiting mitosis. Propranolol is a non-selective beta-adrenergic receptor antagonist traditionally used for cardiovascular indications; it has shown anti-angiogenic properties and potential to reduce metastasis in preclinical cancer models. This combination has been studied primarily in the neoadjuvant treatment of breast cancer[1][2][5].
