Overview
AdSOCS1 is a gene therapy designed for the treatment of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). This therapeutic approach involves the delivery of the Suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 (SOCS1) gene. SOCS1 is a protein that plays a crucial role in regulating cell growth and differentiation by inhibiting the Janus kinase - signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK-STAT) pathway, which is typically activated by cytokines. By introducing the SOCS1 gene, AdSOCS1 aims to restore or enhance this inhibitory function, thereby counteracting uncontrolled cell proliferation characteristic of HNSCC.
