Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This investigational combination vaccine, developed by the **Wuhan Institute of Biological Products** and **Sinopharm Zhongyuan Biological Technology Research Institute** (subsidiaries of **Sinopharm**), is designed to protect against four major childhood diseases: diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and poliomyelitis. It combines an adsorbed acellular pertussis, diphtheria, and tetanus (DTaP) component with an inactivated poliovirus vaccine (IPV) derived from Sabin strains (sIPV). The use of Sabin strains for the IPV component is a significant feature, as it enhances manufacturing biosafety compared to traditional Salk-strain IPV. The vaccine is currently undergoing Phase 1 clinical evaluation in China to assess its safety and immunogenicity in infants and children.
