Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The adsorbed diphtheria + tetanus + acellular pertussis vaccine, developed by Hualan Biological Vaccine Co., Ltd., is a trivalent combination vaccine designed for the active immunization of infants and children against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis (whooping cough). The vaccine contains purified diphtheria and tetanus toxoids, which are inactivated toxins that stimulate the production of neutralizing antibodies. The pertussis component is acellular, typically consisting of purified pertussis toxoid (PT) and filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA), which are safer alternatives to whole-cell pertussis vaccines. These antigens are adsorbed onto an aluminum-based adjuvant (such as aluminum hydroxide) to enhance the immune response. Upon administration, the vaccine induces a humoral immune response, creating a memory of the pathogens' toxins and surface proteins to prevent future infections and clinical disease caused by *Corynebacterium diphtheriae*, *Clostridium tetani*, and *Bordetella pertussis*.
