Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**ADV1** was an Allergan-developed investigational lipid-based artificial-tear formulation evaluated for **dry eye disease** in the completed randomized, double-masked NCT01010282 study. It combined carboxymethylcellulose for ocular-surface lubrication with glycerin, polysorbate 80, castor oil, and olive oil in an ophthalmic lipid-emulsion system intended to supplement the tear-film lipid layer and reduce evaporative tear loss. ADV1 improved dryness symptoms in the study, but the related ADV2 formulation had comparatively better tolerability and clinical performance; ADV1 has not been confirmed as a marketed product.
