Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**AdvaCoat Mx** is an investigational, bioresorbable hyaluronan-based sinus gel developed by Carbylan BioSurgery for local sustained delivery of **triamcinolone acetonide** in chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps. The hydrogel adheres to sinonasal mucosa and releases triamcinolone acetonide as it degrades over approximately 30 days. Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic glucocorticoid that activates the glucocorticoid receptor, suppressing inflammatory gene transcription and reducing local sinonasal inflammation. AdvaCoat Mx was evaluated in a prospective, multicenter, randomized, controlled, single-blind Phase 2 study in the Netherlands in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps refractory to conventional medical therapy.
