Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Advax-3 is a novel polysaccharide adjuvant derived from delta inulin, a microcrystalline form of polyfructofuranosyl-D-glucose. It functions as an immunopotentiator, enhancing both humoral and cellular immune responses to co-administered antigens. Unlike many other adjuvants, Advax-3 does not induce inflammatory cytokine production or inflammasome activation. Its mechanism involves modulating antigen-presenting cell function in a non-inflammatory manner, thereby enhancing the costimulation and activation of antigen-specific helper T cells, which in turn licenses the expansion of memory B cells and CD8 T cells. This leads to improved vaccine efficacy, antigen-sparing, and a greater duration of protection. Advax-3 has been studied in various vaccine contexts, including influenza, hepatitis B, SARS, HIV, Japanese encephalitis, and specifically for enhanced fungal protection. It was developed by Vaxine Pty Ltd.
