Advicodone

Advicodone is a fixed-dose combination of the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) ibuprofen (400 mg) and the opioid analgesic oxycodone hydrochloride (5 mg). Developed and manufactured by Pharma Shimi, it is approved for the short-term management of acute, moderate-to-severe pain. Ibuprofen acts by reversibly inhibiting cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis and decreasing inflammation and peripheral pain signaling. Oxycodone acts as an agonist primarily at the mu-opioid receptor in the central nervous system, altering the perception of and emotional response to pain. Together, the two components provide synergistic analgesic effects with distinct mechanisms of action.
