Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Advixa is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody to adalimumab (Humira), developed and manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh. It is a recombinant human IgG1 monoclonal antibody that specifically binds to tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha), blocking its interaction with the p55 and p75 cell surface TNF receptors. This inhibition neutralizes the biological activity of TNF-alpha, a key pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. Advixa is primarily indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, where it has demonstrated non-inferiority to the reference product in clinical trials conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi). It is also used for other inflammatory conditions such as psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and Crohn's disease.
