AdVMART1-transduced dendritic cells is an autologous cell-based cancer vaccine consisting of dendritic cells (DCs) genetically modified with a replication-defective, E1-deleted adenoviral vector (AdV) encoding the full-length melanoma antigen MART-1 (also known as Melan-A). The vaccine is designed to treat metastatic melanoma by utilizing the dendritic cells to present MART-1 epitopes to the immune system, thereby stimulating a robust antigen-specific response involving CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes, CD4+ helper T cells, and natural killer (NK) cells. Developed primarily through research at UCLA and manufactured for clinical trials by Molecular Medicine, LLC, this therapy has demonstrated safety and immunogenicity in Phase 1/2 clinical settings.
