Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ADx-001 is a targeted liposomal MRI contrast agent developed by Alzeca Biosciences for the early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. The agent consists of liposomes containing gadolinium-DOTA (Gd-DOTA) chelates, which are engineered to cross the blood-brain barrier and specifically bind to amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain. By concentrating gadolinium at the site of these plaques, ADx-001 enhances the MRI signal, allowing for the non-invasive visualization of amyloid pathology. This technology is intended to provide a more widely available and cost-effective diagnostic tool compared to amyloid PET imaging, potentially facilitating earlier intervention and better monitoring of disease progression.
